Beautification project of Raiatea Airport

Beautification project of Raiatea Airport unveiled during an inaugural ceremony attended by government representatives, island dignitaries, the artist Evrard Chaussoy, airport staff, and ADT. The beautification works aim to highlight the cultural heritage and treasures of Raiatea from the moment visitors arrive at the airport.

The facades of the terminal are adorned with a frieze featuring the central element of the octopus, a marine animal dear to Polynesian tradition. A large mural created by the native Raiatea artist Evrard CHAUSSOY showcases endemic species of the island (the Tiare Apetahi, the blue cicada), the Taputapuatea marae, and Vaihuti.

A totem representing the Polynesian triangle is placed in the airport gardens, providing a perfect photo opportunity for all visitors. An entryway gate, TE UPUTA O TE MAU MOTU, illustrated by a Polynesian couple, proudly welcomes all travelers and invites them to discover all the treasures this destination has to offer.
